When developing a list of organic natural foods for your body cleansing diet, you have to first become aware of the major organs responsible for body detoxification. Primarily, detoxification occurs in the liver, the kidneys, and the colon. The detoxification process in each of these organs involves a series of complex chemical reactions performed by enzymes produced by these organs.
When we talk about using food to help cleanse these organs, what we are really focusing on is the stimulation of enzymatic production triggered by the specific nutrients of various foods. We want to make it clear that food itself is not a magical substance that somehow swabs the body’s interior and carries toxins out of the body with it. Rather, we are talking about fueling the body with the natural, organic substances that it has spent millions of years evolving to use in the production of its own cleansing agents.
That being said, the process of developing a body cleansing diet can become a very targeted and systematic selection of organic and natural foods that give each major detoxification center the necessary biological fuels that will boost its ability to cleanse itself.
Starting with the liver, we want to look for foods that help the liver produce the essential enzymes involved in both Phase I and Phase II detoxification. One of the best foods—organic garlic—is readily available in any grocery store. Just a small amount both stimulates enzymatic production and contains allicin and selenium, which are two natural compounds that assist in liver cleansing. Green tea is another line item you can add to your body cleansing diet that fast becoming a very popular recreational drink. It is full of a special type of antioxidants that help the overall function of the liver.

Cleansing of the kidneys can also be helped by various foods. Many of these foods also have been shown to assist the kidneys in getting rid of kidney stones. Organic kidney beans, ironically enough, are one of these foods. These beans can be boiled, and their juice extracted, to offer relief from kidney stone pain. More information on helping your body block the buildup of kidney stones can be found in Dr. Group’s newest book, The Green Body Cleanse.
In this book you can also find a wealth of information on foods that also help detoxify the colon. Just a few examples include organic fruits like peaches, pears, and apples. Other foods include coconuts, papaya, prunes, and alfafa sprouts that are organically cultivated. Just these few examples alone reveal that a body cleansing diet can consist of foods that you probably already like and enjoy eating. Just make sure they are USDA certified organic.
